Professional Profile
Meet Wen

Learn Mandarin, Get the Vibe.
Hi, I’m Wen, the teacher behind MandarinVibe.
I’m a native Chinese speaker with 12+ years of teaching experience and more than 10 years of living experience in South Korea. I love helping students discover that learning Mandarin can be practical, enjoyable, and achievable—whether they are learning for travel, work, an exam, everyday conversation, or simply for fun.
My goal is to create a comfortable learning environment where students feel confident asking questions, practicing aloud, and making progress one step at a time.
My Teaching Background

I majored in Teaching Chinese as a Foreign Language and received professional training at Beijing Language and Culture University.
My teaching experience includes working as:
-
A former teacher at a Confucius Institute
-
A Korean children’s education instructor with GNB
-
A senior instructor at LGD Company
-
A private Mandarin instructor for students with different ages, levels, and learning goals
I also hold:
-
A Master’s degree
-
A TCSOL teaching qualification
-
An HSK examination administration qualification
These experiences have helped me understand how to explain Mandarin clearly to beginners while also providing structured, advanced instruction for experienced learners.

Languages I Speak
Chinese — Native
English — C1 Advanced
Korean — B2 Upper-Intermediate
Because I speak both English and Korean, complete beginners do not need to worry about feeling lost during their lessons. I can explain difficult vocabulary, grammar, pronunciation, and cultural concepts in a language that helps the student understand.
MandarinVibe lessons can be personalized around your level, interests, and goals.

Chinese Culture

A Learning Plan Designed for You
Every student learns Mandarin for a different reason. Some are preparing for a trip. Some need Chinese for work. Others are studying for the HSK examination or simply want to enjoy a new language and culture.
Your lessons will be designed around:
-
Your current Mandarin level
-
Your interests and goals
-
The situations in which you plan to use Chinese
-
Your preferred learning pace
-
The skills you most want to improve
A first lesson helps me understand your experience, interests, strengths, and learning needs. From there, I create a structured plan using carefully selected materials that support steady progress.
What You Can Expect in Class
My classes are friendly and relaxed, but they are also organized and purposeful.
Students receive:
-
Personalized speaking and listening practice
-
Engaging illustrations and interactive activities
-
PDFs, PowerPoint presentations, and lesson notes
-
Carefully selected materials for their level
-
Practical examples based on real-life situations
-
Regular feedback and opportunities to ask questions
-
A small amount of helpful homework for reinforcement
-
Lesson materials in advance when appropriate
I use a wide variety of professional resources, including materials designed for international students at leading Chinese universities, HSK and HSKK preparation materials, Business Chinese resources, Travel Chinese lessons, and original presentations.
There is no need to purchase additional textbooks unless a specific resource is recommended for your individual learning plan.
Progress Without Pressure
Learning a language takes time, practice, and consistency. My role is to give you clear guidance, useful materials, encouragement, and a structured path forward.
With regular lessons and independent practice, students can work toward goals such as:
-
Handling basic daily conversations
-
Communicating more confidently while traveling
-
Improving workplace Mandarin
-
Preparing for HSK or HSKK examinations
-
Developing stronger pronunciation and listening skills
-
Reading and writing more Chinese characters
-
Advancing from beginner to intermediate or higher levels
Some highly consistent students may work toward approximately HSK Level 3 within several months or HSK Level 5 over six to twelve months, but progress varies according to previous experience, study frequency, practice time, and individual learning needs. These are learning goals rather than guaranteed results.
My Teaching Philosophy
I believe students learn best when lessons are useful, encouraging, and connected to their real lives.
Mistakes are a natural part of language learning. You do not need to speak perfectly before you start speaking confidently. We will practice together, address areas of uncertainty, and celebrate the progress you make along the way.
Whether you are studying for an examination or learning Mandarin for personal enjoyment, I want every lesson to give you a sense of achievement.
Small steps can lead to meaningful progress. Let’s learn together! And get the Vibe!
